Magnet and Dewatering System

Our team designed and detailed a magnet and dewatering system for an NSW mine. The benefits of this system includes:

1. Reducing the amount of tramp steel and water in the runoff mine coal (ROM), allowing a cleaner and drier product to go to the washery. Tramp steel is metallic scrap that may accidentally find its way onto conveyors and into bulk materials during the mining process, including bucket teeth, bore crowns, bar scrap, chains, and tools.

2. Producing a better quality product while reducing water on the conveyor belt to prevent “run back” on the inclined belts, which in turn, reduces down time due to spillage from the run back.

Telford Engineering Solutions were contracted by the principal contractor, Newcastle-based manufacturer, TW Woods, to engineer and design the system.
